Deciphering Earth’s Deepest Gravity Dent

NCPOR convened a strategic brainstorming session entitled 'Deep-Ocean Geophysical Observations & Future Directions of the IOGL Programme', on 30th July, 2026 featuring experts from National Centre for Earth Science Studies , IITs (IIT Bombay  & IIT Kharagpur), IISc Bangalore , Csir Ngri, CSIR-NIDSA  & ISRO - Indian Space Research Organisation SAC, Ahmedabad. The session was chaired by Prof. M. Radhakrishna, IIT Bombay.

Deliberations focused on resolving deep subsurface velocity and density structures to unravel mantle dynamics driving Earth's largest geoid low. Experts emphasized multi-institutional collaboration, advanced analytical frameworks, and targeted seafloor geodetic monitoring.
